I bought mine at Rodelag. They had a nice selection of GE units. I bought the smallest which works just fine for my apartment.
I use a heavy duty timer to run it for one hour per day when I am away from my apartment. The GE units have capability to connect a hose, which I run to the bathroom floor drain. Works fantastic. In the muggy days I put in my closet or bedroom and run for a couple hours (the GE units have a delay-off feature) and usually get 2-4 liters of water.

Ok, I finally found it across the street from Casa Gala in the Poll Mart. The actual store name is Casa Goly. Rodelag did not have, Casa Gala did not have, and neither did several others. I am guessing it is not a big sales item on the Azuero. The unit I purchased was a new GE dehumidifier and the box it was in along with the floor model was looking old.

    MrWooHoo:
We purchased an Amana portable a/c and dehumidifier floor model. We love it because I didn't put the a/c in our house when we built it 6+ years ago. We have had the Amana for over 4 years and love it--very rarely do we use the a/c, but this last April and May it was crazy weather up here in the mountains and we used it a lot.

I hope they plugged it in to make sure it worked (LOL)!

You bet I did. At first they wanted to walk me through the cashier line before testing and I said "Nope, let's plug it in". It appears to work and it does have a store warranty included so let's hope for the best.

These are fantastic and very affordable. They are for smaller rooms not the whole house but we use one in our large 33' motorhome and it helps a lot with moisture.

    Re: Looking For A Dehumidifier

Note that the cost to run a dehumidifier (or an AC doing dehumidification) is mostly determined by how tightly you can get the room air sealed. So cracks around the door, ceiling tiles, etc are important. I know a guy that sealed up his boat without one and everything rotted. Same for cars and houses.
