    Chitre

    Anyone live here?

Other than the 5 days around Carnival it seems to be pretty quiet with gringos. The four lane road to Pedasi may help and the new mall. A few developments going in by the beach.

Any good restaurants? I went to the one up on the hill El Mirador I think.

What is there to do other than the beach and river and the usual stuff.

Fiesta Casino. The towns on the Azuero aren't what I would consider happening tourist hotspots unless you go when there is some event, such as Carnival. These are good areas to live and once you get in with the local expat crowd you will have things to do. Know that there are many events and the locals are dying for an excuse to party. Las Tablas seems to have a big fiesta every month. Stopping by for a couple of days, not knowing anybody in the middle of the week, not a whole lot of entertainment.

hi just a thought , chitre is a very hot little town , good for shopping etc , you might want to take a drive up to OCU and look at the area up there , it is in the hills and cooler than chitre but on 20 minutes away on a good road , beautiful views from up there yet close enough to run down to town anytime . i do not live in chitre but am there lots and it is always hot , it gets no wind to cool it off

I will be traveling to Chitre and the Azuero Peninsula in a few weeks. What does OCU stand for. Can't think of any towns that I know of match those initials. Thanks

I have to disagree as I am sitting on my back porch just now in chitre and there is a delightfully cool breeze and has been for the past couple of months.

Ocu is farther than 20 minutes. Even Pese is farther than 20. The breezes are very nice now but hotter during the rainy season. Seems to vary by where in chitre as well.
