    import duties at international airport?

    hello everybody,
    I am new to this forum and have a question right away. We bought a condo in Panama City and are still decorating. The only thing we couldn't find in Panama City is really nice bedding. We bought this in the US and are bringing it our next trip. Will we need to pay import duties at the airport and if so, how much? Do we need the cash receipt? we are no residents yet, but will apply for it in a few years, when we will retire.
    thanks!

    You shouldn't have problems. You can bring back up to $2000 worth of products for personal use. Bring receipts just in case.

    No-Non-Sense-Matt is correct. Just pack it in your suitcase. Friends came in Monday and brought a bunch of stuff for their new house out by me (including the expensive sheets, etc.) and they didn't pay any duty on stuff!

    I'm Platinum status with Continental which allows me 3 - 70 lb bags. I've filled them all to the brink a few times with super foods, 50 lbs of almonds, gallons of coconut oil and too many other things to lists. They'll check what's in their and I just tell them "I love almonds." And they let it go through. lol

    Hey Matt, just lost My CO plat status as CO fares nearly tripled for their B-fares to PTY from the Bahamas.
    I am now stuck with American from Freeport. Do you visit the Flyertalk forum?

    Yeah -- love Flyertalk. I hate American. I will do everything in my power to avoid them.

    COPA's rates are very high across all Latin America because they just don't have any competition.
