    Bats in the Bedroom !

I know this sounds weird and creepy, but we have bats in our bedroom. They must've gotten in during construction, and are hiding in little nooks and crannies (which everyone knows there are many) in our very high open beam ceiling. I know the houses that only have the open decorative block for windows must have the same problem. Any ideas on how to get them to 'move on'?

    Gracias in advance!

Ozzy Osbourne is in Panama on the 19th of April, playing at the Figali convention center.

My guess is, bats gotta eat... keep the window nearest to them open and all other doors/windows closed. When they fly out at night to go eat, shut the window.

Otherwise, call a pest control person. If you are having a (any) problem, odds are that locals have dealt with it for many years... someone will know how best to handle it.

Bats are a health concern. Besides carrying rabies they also will urinate and drop feces in your house. This will in turn invite insects who want to eat the droppings. I had some take up residence in the gable end vent of cottage #6. I waited until after dark as suggested above and then placed a screen over the opening. It took care of the problem. I was also told by a neighbor the sonic rodent repellers work on bats also. Good luck and if all else fails try hanging some garlic and crucifixes LOL!

Just did some research and it looks like mothballs maybe the way to go?

Re: Bats in the Bedroom !

I had bats in a property I owned a couple of years ago, eventually I had to get a pest guy in to get rid of them, from what I can remember he told me

Bats are a good thing in your area because of the amount of bugs they eat at night(but not in the house)
They will come back or stay in the same spot for a very long time
To get rid of them you must try and find out where they are getting in and out , the best way to do this is just before it is getting dark they usually leave the nest to feed if you can find the hole you can block it, yes they may find another hole but you have to try and block any that have direct access to your house.
Another suggestion was a bat box put this near the hole and gradually move it away from the house if they start using it.
The only problems with mothballs is the smell in your house, I used them for mice in the house once and the smell hung around for months
