    Medicines over the counter

    Hi All, I have heard you can buy antibiotics and antidepressants over the counter in Panama, is this true? And also, can you buy insulin for diabetics? Thanks for everyones help in this forum!!!

    The antibiotics are available over the counter and I believe antidepressants too. Not sure re: insulin though...it is my understanding that the only things that require a prescription are pain killers like oxy contin etc.

    I just arrived in PTY last night with no luggage or med for my diabetes, thanks to CO Airlines. So.........I went to Mercado Rey this morning and bought the insulin meds with no problem.

    Last time I needed some prescription medicine I went to a doctor's office in David, told them what I needed and quantity. Paid $1 for each prescription and off to the pharmacy.

    not that I am a regular shopper at the pill department, But I have never been turned down asking for a variety of things from the pharmacy I use the one next to the Venneto,If they dont have they send me to another

    saw that happen in cuba once , one would think if the meds are important they would be in your carry on ? you got lucky , some countries might be so easy , food for thought
