Thread: car rental ideas

Coming to Las Tablas the first 2 weeks of May. Want to have a car but car rentals fees are very expensive!! Will be flying into PC on May 7 any thoughts or ideas?

Take taxis or for really cheap, take the bus.

Getting to Las Tablas by bus and taxis would be bad enough but once in town I would want to be more flexable then using a taxis

You can always take the bus to Chitre and then rent a car as needed there. I know Thrifty has a location there for sure but not sure who else. You can also fly to Pedasi and arrange to have a car dropped off at the airport there. I have rented from Thrifty at Tocumen and have been treated well. Rentals are not cheap (the $12 / day insurance adds up) but the cars take a beating in Panama! If you do end up renting, make sure to get out your camera/ cell camera and take pic's of all the damage when they are doing their inspection.

Should run you $333 for 14 days including basic insurance for the cheapest car they have available. There are other low cost rental agencies around that area. If you have a decent credit card it should cover the rest.

You need to ask yourself what the value of a vacation day is. If it's more than $333 you get the car for free. You will spend at least 1 day extra transporting yourself without a car (plus expenses).

Ed, Thanks for the info on inexpensive car rental I will check with them and if it is cheaper than Tocumen that may be the way to go!!

$333 for 14 days IS a good price.
