    Mail

    I am confused.
I am given a post office box to direct my mails to.
I was told, for regular letters, go to PO Box.
For courier service, use actual address.
So if someone in US wants to send me a parcel in a USPS flat rate box, which address should I give him?
    Thanks.

Any boxes or thick padded envelopes, go to the physical address. Letters go to the PO box.

    Thanks!
Next question. Will Panama side "honor" their end of it if I buy something online and pay international postage? (Eg from Amazon)

Also, good luck in getting your items. IME getting all my mail from the States has not been reliable.

Absolutely not. All packages that are not FedEx, UPS etc you need to direct to your PO Box in Panama.

How does the import duty get paid? Just trying to understand the process.

    Re: Mail

If the package has an invoice for less than $50 you don't pay taxes. Every post office in Panama has a customs officer on duty. You need to pay between 5-20 % for duty and 7 % tax based on the invoice.

    Re: Mail

I think whoever handles the mail is as confused as we are. I ordered something from Ebay from Japan (a low value item just to test it out). I paid regular economy shipping. The seller emailed me to apologise that they realised after they've sent out the item that Panama does not recgonise economy shipping, and that the item would probably be lost. But the surprising thing is that I received it after 2 week. From Japan! Amazing!

A PO Box / Street address in the US would require other parameters. In general it doesn't matter since no courier will accept anything directed to a PO Box.
