    Mountain Biking

Can anyone recommend a place to do some mountain biking that is close to, or in, the city? Nothing crazy complex, just want to get out on the weekends for a few hours. Thanks.

Maybe Gamboa or El Valle could be fun on a mountain bike?

Gamboa for sure. Pipeline Trail road. Take the road to Gamboa until it dead ends - it literally runs into Pipeline Trail. (You can google map it and see it.) Really easy.

The gate closes at 4sh, so I'd park outside it on the grass and bike for as long as your heart contends. The path is 18km? one way... something like that.

I need to check out that trail in Gamboa. I take it there is a lot of beautiful scenery and wildlife?

Unless I am mistaken even US citizens should still be able to travel to Venezuela without to much hassle? I bet it is a lot easier for a US citizen to go into Venezuela than a Venezuela citizen to enter the US.

Does anyone happen to know anything about the bike trail in Soberania park? Details would be great. Thanks.

There is the 'Plantation Trail' around 5km before the Gamboa bridge, turn off the road at the sign for the Canopy Tower and park in the carpark there. The trail is stoney with very mild gradients and leads to the NE for around 8km (just one trail - can't get lost) built as an access road to an old cocoa plantation. You can follow it until you get to a stand of bamboo which means that you have reached the historic Cruces Trail. The Cruces Trail will take you (right) towards the Madden Road or (left) to the ruins of Venta Cruces on the S bank of the Chagres. The Cruces trail is sometimes hard to follow and would be tough to bike. On the Plantation Trail, when you get to an open grassy area about halfway to the stand of bamboo have a look around - that is where park rangers spotted a jaguar!

Is Pipeline road accessible by motorcycle? As long as I get out before 4pm?

Also - are there any swimming opportunities off of pipeline?
