Anyone knows where we can get these things in PC? I see mace sold in RibaSmith.
As a woman with 2 little kids, I don't go out alone at night. But of course it is good to know what is available here. However, I am actually more afraid of crazy cars knocking down my kids than anything else...

But even being a big guy with some training, I dont go walking in unknown places after dark, I dont drink heavily when I'm out socially, etc. Its good to be big, it's great to be trained, but most of all, just be smart.

Perhaps I am naive, but I dont worry a lot about violent crime in Boquete. I am far more concerned with the property crime thing, which I didnt realize was a very big problem there. I will be visiting there in April and I'll definitely talk to the neighbors and the expats in the area and get more feedback about the issue.
I wouldn't worry about the physical altercation to much either. There was however somebody killed in a home invasion last year in the Boquete area and occasionally a foreign national gets attacked in the David area.

Woohoo is correct by and large Panama is a safe place. The stungun may lure people into a false sense of confidence and prompt them to take chances they normally wouldn't. Alway's consider the limitations of the stungun. You have to be closer than you ever want to be to a perp for it to be employed. You also must make contact with him and disable him prior to him disabling you. Some people who are anti gun think knives are not as dangerous, trust me they are just as dangerous. Your first defense should be to flee and to fight as a last resort. Here are some photos of a trained cop who tried to take on a guy with a knife. How many of us have as much training or day to day dealings with perps as a cop does?

Glad I could help. The wrist lanyard that comes with the stungun also acts as a kill switch when pulled out. This prevents someone from taking it away and using it on you. I pull the lanyard off and disable it prior to placing it in my checked luggage. If the TSA or someone find it it won't do anything and they can't inadvertantly shock themselves. After you land a clear customs pull it out and arm it prior to taking a taxi. Because it looks like a lipstick case place it with your other cosmetics and it won't get a second look. Jani is a good egg just a little confused on the whole gun issue. After she see's the photos from the above post she may want to call for the banning of kitchen knives, you know so many of them laying around with children in the house LOL.

Thanks for the good advice, Fleeted. We would probably never have to use them but I know that I would feel safer with one. No question about it. Yes, Jani is ok in my book.
Thanks again Fleeted. Have you sold any of those Fl condos yet? Haha.
