Since I am here, I would like to eat local/regional produce as much as I can.
Where does they come from? I mean the regular ones we get from regular stores, not expensive delis.
- eggs
- chicken
- pork
- beef
- milk/cheese
Thanks.

hi . well the eggs come from a chicken , the chicken comes fron a egg ,the pork from a pig and the beef from a cow , the milk and cheese also come from a cow unless it comes from a sheep , , sorry i just had to do that LOL , your question does not make sence to me , where does it come from ? well off of farms out in the country would be a good answer .
haha.. you are funny.
I mean are they locally produced in Panama, or imported from other central America/South America countries, or imported from US?
I cook a lot. And from what I have observed, compared to US, the eggs seems nicer/creamier, vegetables fresher (worms included). Rice imported from US is 2X the price of Panamanian ones.
If I have a choice, I'd choose Panamanian produced varieties.
Do I make sense now?
my boyfriend works for american star....their meat (sausages etc.) are from national production....and they also export their products...The company is originally form USA. I think also a lot of other products are local products... check package or name (like chiricana milk etc.)![]()
Todo esto es vida, vivela!
hi well i am glad you saw that i was teasing you , i believe lots is local , i know around pedasi the eggs and chickens are , as well as i buy freash milk from a local farmer every second day , it is like haven on earth to get it , complete with the cream that rises to the top , if you are not in the city try to find a local to sell you free range chickens and eggs . i think most produce is grown up near David and that area , and i will glady take the worms , at least you know it was not bathed in chemicals . read a good story one day and they said if yoy find produce with spots it pretty much tells you it does not have chemicals or very little , compared to the purfect stuff in some stores
Thanks for replies.
Yes, who is afraid of worms? Extra proteins!
Yes, I just checked, the eggs are from Las Tablas.
I am in Panama City. It is interesting to note that the stores put expensive imports in front and the local items (at half the price) at the back. You got to walk the isle to find the local ones.
Gallinas del patio rule! My in-laws all raise their own chickens and they are definitely more tasty than the frozen chicken we buy here in the supermarket.
Question:
Where do we buy free range chicken in Panama City?
I don't see them in regular stores. I guess you have to go to fresh mercados?
in the city i do not know , with the amount of people and the amount of chicken eaten everyday i would think that they are forced raised , i believe if you jump in the car and drive out into the country you will find farmers with chickens in there yards , they will know how to kill and clean them , just take cash and be fair on the price , should work out for everyone and you will have some chicken in the freezer ,
Just a slighty irrelevant note.
I just came back from Curundo with a sack of those humongous mangoes. It costs me $7 for 41 mangoes - which works out to be 17c each.
I felt like I've ripped off the farmer.
