    panamanian women

    hi.
mr. woohoo... or anyone else with significant experience...

do you notice a difference between panamanian women and american (u.s.) women?
yes, i know everyone is an individual, and we cannot paint any group with a broad brush,
but i am wondering about the attitudes.

my only visit to panama was restricted to the capital. i found the women in calidonia disturbingly american in their generall affect. once recognized as a u.s. citizen, it was like walking around with a dollar sign, surrounded by a target on my chest.

i did notice, however, that in and around calle uruguay, the women were quite a bit more pleasant (my perception).

    comments?

In Calidonia they would be Panamanian and dirt poor. Around Calle Uruguay more affluent and more of a mix as far as nationality.

I would say the biggest difference is the quality of education and income.

    ABSOLUTELY!

I was married to my first wife for 15 years - she was from Kentucky.
I've been married to my current wife for almost 12 years now - she is from Anton, Panama. There is a world of difference between those two women. I believe there is a difference between most American and Panamanian women I've met in my lifetime.

I'm somewhat reluctant to go into detail here - send me an IM or email and I will elaborate....

There is obviously a difference culturally between woman or people from different cultures. All the woman are different, just like anywhere else. Panamanian woman perceive that you can financially provide for them. They believe you can give them a better life. Most Latina's would prefer a latino man, if they thought thought they could financially provide for them and would be loyal to them. They want to be taken care of because of the lack of opportunities available for women in this society. That way of thinking is cultural in my view.

The lack of opportunities is more pronounced. The reason a Panamanian would want a relationship at all with an American is their perception of economic improvement/stability. It would be common for a Panamanian woman to prefer be a stay at home wife also. Is this better? That is entirely subjective. As far as cultural differences? Huge difference. And, there is a language barrier to go along with it until that is fixed. Panamanians are extremely family oriented also. As far as how much difference this would be in comparison to US woman? Maybe its more subtle than obvious and you need to experience it for yourself. Or, maybe I am not equipped to describe it adequately. Please come to Panama and hang out. This could be a good subject over a beer or 3.
