Mailboxes Etc - now losing mail too

I have started losing mail with Mailboxes Etc now as well.

This is the only way that I have been able to get mail into Panama successfully before.

If there is anyone else losing mail with them, please contact me.

I will need to get an attorney now.

Does anyone know of a purely US company that can do mail forwarding? I don't want a single Panamanian involved in this process preferably.

How about a reliable contact in the USA and Fed Ex?

I am not interested in packages, just mail.

So how would that work then?

A customer sends me a check by regular mail to an address in the US and then what?

Here are my ideas about how it could be done.

All your mail gets sent to a US address. They have an automated system that does OCR on it and puts the envelope text and a picture of the envelope on a web site. You get to pick from:

    1) forward this to me immediately
    2) store and forward to me once per month
    3) throw this away

You can also have automated rules.

Of course they could have an agent in Panama to sort it too. Only restriction is that they can only have one customer "Ed Bowers" (unless you use a code of some type).

For sure I don't want an agent in Panama anymore.

I went to the police today to file a complaint. Apparently it is not a crime in Panama to steal mail with checks in them so nothing got done. It's only a crime if you deposit the check. No wonder so much mail is being stolen in Panama.

If anyone knows a tested, bull-proof system for getting regular mail in Panama with 100 % certainty I am all ears. I am willing to pay 1,200 dollars per year to get my regular mail at this point.

jonr - do you know any company in the US that offers what you describe? I am willing to do almost anything to make sure no Panamanian gets to see or hold my mail before I can see it.

Re: Mailboxes Etc - now losing mail too

New to website tonight and first post to a forum EVER!
But this headline caught my attention.
We are moving this month to Panama and our current plan is to have our UPS lady ship our mail as needed via Priority Mail (or something of this nature...not UPS or FEDex) to a local address there or PO Box. We have sent a 'test' mailing to both these addresses and will see if the envelopes show up.
We will be in contact via email with our UPS lady and she will communicate with us what has arrived in our mailbox and we will tell her what to ship to us with what frequency.
Our friend has been successfully doing this to Macau for 2 years so we're hoping to have the same luck. We'll see! I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the heads up on the mail situation!

I get about one piece of mail per day. You can forget about getting your stuff to a Panama PO Box in a secure manner. Local addresses they don't have here.

I'd think one sure alternative is just have a US based service collect you mail for you, then forward via Fed EX (or other traceable means) to you in Panama on a schedule... be it, once every week or 2 weeks or per month.

What does Fed Ex cost - say for 1 pound. I see $120 for UPS or FedEX - which is crazy.

I am now in the process of switching to these guys: Online mail management including online postal mail, po boxes, mail forwarding and more | Earth Class Mail

The only problem so far is that they use 5-digit account numbers. This is incredibly stupid since the zip code also has a 5-digit format.

I expect to pay $100-$150 per month now to just securely get my regular mail in Panama.

There is not a single functional mail forwarding country in the whole country unfortuntely so now I have to use a pure US business and FedEx with home delivery to get the mail. This is after 3 years of trying everything at an immense cost to my sanity and business.

I have both a mail box etc and a US Miami based shipper.. both lose mail.. no follow up when asked where it is even though the shippers agent signs for it.. very frustrating when you buy something online and cannot go back to the online store for a refund because it was delivered and signed for... you chalk it up to some Panamanian having a nice gift that you paid for
