Thread: Panama City Taxi Rates

What are the current taxi rates in Panama City? Last I remember they were more or less as follows, does anyone know what they are right now?

Tocumen Airport to City $25, plus $2.50 if you take the highway (toll roads)

Within the city (close), 1 person: $1.25
Within the city (close), 2 persons: $1.50

Within the city (longer distance), 1 person: $1.75+
Within the city (longer distance), 2 persons: $2.00+

Per hour: $8 (?)

Hotel taxis: $20 per hour (?)

My personal experience, taxi costs depends on the time of day. There have been times where I can get a cab to go from El Cangrejo to the Albrook terminal for $2. Ask a taxi during rush hour and he may not do it for $5. Timing is everything when it comes to getting a cab in Panama City.

The Visitor published the entire rate sheet a few months back. Check the website.

If the taxi isn't willing to take you he just won't do it no matter what the rate sheet says at least in my experience.
