    Bocas del toro

Hey I am looking about buying a place in Bocas del Toro and I am really excited. I really have looked into it and I have heard that Panama is a great place to live. I used to live in Mexico about 70 miles from Mexico City and you really can't get away from the cartels that are out there. I hated it. You could see the effects of them go from Toluca and the gradually went out farther to the town where I was. I know that every country isn't perfect but I think that Panama is going to be a great choice for me.
My brother went to red frog beach and he said that it was amazing. I am really excited to see it down there. If anyone has any advice and precautions for me I would be more than happy to hear about them. I would also like to know about the different things to avoid. Thank you,
    Rhino

Spend sometime living there, 6mos - 1year, and find out what is going on.

I concur, and I am a property owner building a home there.

Go rent an apartment or condo for a month, get the feel of the place. There is lots of places available, from total isolation in the jungle / beach / island, to more mainstream places. Once you are there for a while you will find what fits your lifestyle and budget. Lots of great people from all walks of life (and I mean ALL) living in the region, depends which crowd you decide to run with. But that is the exciting part.

I personally like the Bocas area. It seems more laid back than other places in Panama. It is also nice to be so close to Costa Rica if you want to do some traveling.

I have heard that it is an amazing place and I am really excited. I love living abroad. What are some of the different things that I should look out for in Bocas?

There is a lot of variety in Bocas and many different opportunities. My personal preference would be to live on Isla Colon. If you have already experienced living abroad successfully (aka happily) then you should be able to make the transition without to much problem. Do keep in mind you will be living the "island life" and that does bring a whole new dimension to the living abroad experience.
