    Questions about Azuero Peninsula

Hi everyone, new member here. Just had a few quick question about the Azuero area which I am planning on checking out soon. Does Chitre or Las Tablas have any gyms? What about any other of the smaller towns (doubtful)? Same question about a veterinarian?

I have read that there are areas at 2k to 3k that are 10 degrees cooler than the Azuero coast. What towns are at these altitudes? Do you really notice it being significantly cooler? Is it all year or is there a difference in wet/dry season? I am guessing the coast is around highs of 90's and lows of 70's, so would the higher altitudes be highs in the 80's and lows in 60's? That sounds nice. How is the humidity in the higher altitudes versus coast as well? Sorry to be so specific, but I would have to find an area that is cooler than the coast to live permanently. Thanks for any help in advance.

The best thing to do is come down and start looking around. You will find out really quickly what are the areas with the hottest temps, highest humidity, highest cost of real estate.....etc. Give yourself some time to enjoy the experience.

To answer the first two questions, gym and vet, yes. I personally go to a gym near my house for a grand total of $1 per visit or $4 per week. Farming is a popular occupation so their are vets everywhere. There are also areas of the Azuero that have a decent altitude and are cooler. Like becky said, come on down and check it out.

Figure about 3F cooler per 1000 ft in elevation. Now if I could only find some 2000' high property right on the ocean.

I too have question regarding Azuero. When is the carnival scheduled. Not planning on being a participant this year, just need to know when the dust settles from all the activity in Las Tablas. Maybe see you at the gym MR WOOHOO.

I am heading to the gym right now. Carnival happens in Feb, don't have the exact date.

Las Carnivales is the weekend before and up to Ash Wednesday. Next year, 2011, Ash Wed is later than usual, March 9th, so Carnival begins Saturday March 5th . EVERY town celebrates, but the BIGGIE is Las Tablas. Kevin

Thanks for the responses. Glad to hear there is a gym in Las Tablas, Mr Woohoo. How's the equipment? I know not to expect a Bally's. I have worked out in some pretty shady gyms. There was one in Uruguay, thinking back it was probably not too smart throwing around a decent amount weight.
