Question Are Tourist Visas Good For One Year?

So I have heard from a couple of people that tourist visa's are now good for 1/2 year. One of the people that told me was one of the guys from Playa Venao, a friend in Las Tablas, AND I talked with somebody that works for immigration at the local watering hole, showed him my passport and he told me 180 days. Can anybody else confirm or deny this? If tourist visas are good for 180 days then it's happy times.

I heard there is a hand written note that says "180 days" beside the entry stamp. I personally wouldn't take the chance.

My Panamanian neighbor says she made 2 phone calls yesterday and that she was told both times it was now 180 days. When I see a law or an official announcement I will believe it.....until then I will not take the chance. Fines and/or deportation are too big of a risk for me to take.

But I sure hope it's true. 90 days comes around really quickly, and while it can be fun, it also is expensive and disruptive.

I just heard from two Germans:
The first asked at the immigration on the Airport Tocumen and the otherone asked at the border in Paso Canoas.

That they can stay 180 days now on in Panama!

But the German Embassy dont write anything about this change!

I dont know maybe the German Embassy is to slow to update the webpage!?

The German Embassy can't be slower than the Canadian one:

"Note: Since May 22nd, 2007, the Tourist Visa is valid only for 30 days and extendable to 60 days at the Immigration Office in Panama City. The extension must be requested before the 30 days expire."
