Life in the interior. Where is the meat?

I live in the Los Santos Province. The land has been stripped of its trees. There is no forest. There is lots of cows. I am hungry. I go to the super market and the meat is the worst quality. OK, meat is not everything, but I am looking for something for a celebration! Oh, it is right in front of me. I forgot, lean, stew beef. We used to call it round steak in the US;. There it is. Sirloin and the other good cuts are for the rich. I forget sometimes. Come to Panama to the interior and live simply. And don't complain cause it is what is. Please don't let this get out on the forum.

OK, so you are probably saying to yourself, OK, here is another doomsayer for Panama. I tell it like it is. Ok, beer is 50 cents in the cantinas. Lunch is 2 bucks. I don't call it lunch. I call it a rice snack with a meat nugget. Come here and see this. It it what it is. On the other hand, there are good points about this place. Living under the grid. Life is sort of quiet. The girls are pretty. Folks, this place is not for everyone. I welcome anyone to come and visit.

Hey GHammer, there are lots of places in the city that have steaks. Living out in Las Santos is not for everyone, that is for sure. Anybody that requires the bigger and fancy markets is going to be disappointed. I personally am quite happy with the fact that the food is more simple. I load up on ceviche and rice a lot. There is going to be a new bbq place opening up soon.

Obviously I eat what is available. All of the the readers need to know that the food supply is different in the Los Santos Province compared to what they may be used to. Maybe meat availability is different in different provinces. Fish availability is not bad here. Most fish on the hoof is 1.60/lb or less and the man will in most cases clean the fish for you. And the types of fish are indeed wonderful and illegal in my home state of Florida. But, I miss my beloved sirloin. Someone in Panama City or somewhere else is enjoying my steak because it is not being offered here.

    Hi!
I have found by going to local parties the way they cook the beef is excellent, but on the other hand I can not duplicate the way they tendorize the meat!! I have given up trying and being a person that is allergic to fish and seafood I am screwed. The only thing that saves grace for me is there is an excellent restaurant where I can get a bacon wrapped filet mignon with a mushroom cap on the PanAmerican Highway at the 104 KM marker (Los Camisones) for a reasonable price!

Bacon wrapped filets, heck yeah! When I moved out to the Los Santos province I made sure to take a look in the local stores to see what I was going to be eating. I knew that moving to a small town interior of a Latin country I was not going to be able to get what I was used to in the USA. For me I was perfectly fine with that and I feel better physically than I did in the USA. I eat a lot more produce. Anytime I want something I cant get I will put forth the effort and catch a bus to panama city, fill up a cooler. Recently my girlfriend had a craving for sushi and knew I was going to the city. I bought some sushi in PC before I returned, put it into a cooler, and happy gf.
