We have been doing our research and have decided to move to Panama from Belize in mid-November 2010. We will come down in August to do due diligence. We are interested in the Chiriqui and Cocle provinces, particularly the Las Tablas, El Valle, Volcan, Boquete, Penonome areas and surrounding villages. We have been reading the posts and see that a number of you are living the life and we would like your honest assesment of these areas, i.e., affordable rental housing (small is ok, inexpensive but not dumpy), local culture (not bars), infrastructure, med services, local transportation, seasonal upsides and downsides. We currently live in a small village in the Cayo District of Belize near San Ignacio. We live on a beautiful river in a comfortable one bedroom furnished house and while we appreciate the serenity, the environment is VERY dusty and boring. We are accustomed to frequent power and water outages and tourists. We are vegetarians and we appreciate a wide array of local fruits and veges. We appreciate your time and typing. Also, what is the weather like in August? When we come down we will definitely buy you a beer and (vege) burger or two. BTW, do they sell Heineken?
