    Teeth

    Hey everyone!

Hey, I havn't visited a dentist in awhile. Should I go ahead and get them cleaned here in the states or ... what's the dentist situation in Panama City? How much for a cleaning and cavity fill, and maybe a whitening? hahaha, I smoke ciggies and I just noticed the insides of my teeth are lookin pretty hurtful.

A clean and polish is $50 so it's not the cheapest. You can find cheaper, I have had my cleaned for $20 but the service and quality was lousy. I will personally spend the extra couple of bucks on a cleaning. Anybody else have good experiences with local dentists?

I've gone to a few good dentists:

One of them is in Marbella near HSBC on Aquilino De La Guardia. I forget his name -- he's American trained and he was $45.

And I went to another in El Dorado near Pizza Italia. I forget their name - but they were great too! $50 the first time -- $25 after.

In short -- I would say just go to any dentists office you see that has a decent operation. They should take decent care of you including the one that Mr. WooHoo mentioned!

I go to Dr. Smiley on the 2nd floor next to Rey in Albrook. I had 3 cavities filled, cleaned and polished, along with they took a complete set of x-rays for around $200. I have sent a lot of people there and they were very happy there--including new dentures made. The big plus was they spoke English in the office.

That kind of clinic would be overpriced . I would prefer to go to a dentist frequented by middle class panamanians.
I had a root canal done for $150 and porcelain crown for $360 and the results were excellent.
I don't think that would be possible in a Punta Pacifica clinic.

    Re: Teeth

I enquired to have extensive work done in Panama City and sent e-mails out to approx. 4 Dental Clinics. Monica from Punta Pacifica replied to me with 10 minutes, I got an estimated quote from her (obviously she has not seen my teeth or any x-rays) and I am seriously thinking of having it done with them. Anyone know where I can find more Reviews on this group please? If the work they do on teeth is as professional as them contacting and caring like this, I would not hesitate to go there!

What is meant by clean and polish? Are you referring to teeth bleaching? Or are you talking about a dentist using a brush and some paste to clean and polish your teeth? Because I get that every time I go to see a dentist, but to be honest it does not make much difference from me doing it myself

I personally think it is yay too expensive in the States, that is why I'm looking to have my teeth done in Panama. The States is a rip off!

Where would you recommend then please HoseM1? They seem pretty professional. I don't mind paying a little extra as long as the work is good. What do you think? Do you know where I can read reviews on the best Clinics in Panama City please?

If you don't mind paying a little extra and desire service in english, then you should go to the Punta Pacifica clinic.
But if you listen to Contrail's recommendation and go to the Dominican Republic, I'm sure you'll save a lot of money.
