Panama-Guide.com - An
earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook the area near the border between Panama and Costa Rica at 6:04 am local time. The earthquake was centered at 8.394°N, 82.822°W or 45 km (25 miles) W of David, Panama, 45 km (30 miles) SE of Golfito, Costa Rica, 120 km (75 miles) SSW of Bocas del Toro, Panama, 370 km (230 miles) W of PANAMA CITY, Panama. Normally a 5.0 quake is easily felt by those living close to the epicenter, but little or no damage is done. These "little" earthquakes are generally considered to be a good thing, in that they represent a release of built up pressure and tension between neighboring tectonic plates.
