So this morning @ 7AM, I awoke to some very loud music. I have 2 associates from the states staying with me for a few days while their apartment gets ready here in Panama City. My first thought was these two guys were being pretty rude by cranking the TV or music up this early in the morning (I don't get up too early anymore). Anyway, I storm into the living room... and nothing. No one is up but me. So I look out my living room windows trying to find the source of the noise. It's on the street.
So, at 7AM there are people on both sides of Balboa and in the median waving flags and dancing. They had a Toyota truck with a huge concert speaker in the back blaring music while 2 police officers oversaw the rally. It appeared that they were holding up signs for a political candidate, but I didn't go down and check it out... I just wanted it to be over. A full hour later it was.
Is this a common occurance here? I mean.. wow. I am 20 floors above the streets and it sounded like it was in the next room. While I was a bit peeved this morning, I couldn't help but shake my head, smile and tell myself what everyones been telling me since I got here..."Welcome to Panama man... welcome to Panama."
