"Fixer uppers"
The Port of Progresso in Mexico has 100's of homes that are empty and falling apart, just waiting to be re born. We found the same situation in Merida.

Does Panama have alot of these homes, and, if so, how difficult is it to find the owners to possibly buy one of them?

I think that you can find plenty of good "fixer uppers" here. People still seem to be buying but in my opinion more conservatively.
