Old neighborhood monikers

I left Panama City in 1969. Back then, within the Calidonia district there where neighborhoods called Guachapalí, Marañón and San Miguel. I've returned to Panama several times since and havn't heard those names mentioned. Are they obsolete?

I think with the older residents, the names are still used, but not so much with locals and the new influx of people that have moved into the city from smaller villages. I know that my grandmother used to refer to the different neighborhood names even though the guidebooks stopped or gave them new ones.

Your reasoning is impeccable; still, have you personally ever heard of Guachapalí, Marañón (pronounced maranión) or San Miguel, or know anyone who has?

I eagerly await your reply. Thanks.
