Taking a Pet

What do I need to do in order to bring my pet with me this next time? I'm not sure how hard it is going to be to find an apartment that will let me keep a dog, hope it isn't as hard as it is here in the states.

But, this last time I went I didn't plan on staying so long and I really missed my dog Zorro. Now that I know I will be making a more permanent move I want to make sure I can bring him along.

Anyone here taken a pet with them?

Google "bring pet to panama" and you'll find lots of info.

Finding a pet-friendly apartment isn't too tough -- though of course it gets a little bit more difficult if you're shopping for a furnished apartment. Still nothing like the US, though -- no carpets here. :-)

Hi twocents,

There have been a number of discussions such as the one below:

http://www.panamaforum.com/living-pa...highlight=pets

You might want to try the "Search" function at the top of this page and type in the key word such as "pets" and you will find a number of previous duscussion threads on this Forum which will be helpful.

Ciao,

Thanks Gordon for the thread. I did do a search, except I used the singular "pet" and nothing came up, still doesn't.

I am bringing my dog this week. It's a bit of a hassle. I had to go to the vet to get her a clean bill of health. Then take it to a local USDA office, then to the Panamanian embassy here in Houston. Then when you get to Panama you have her checked out by a local vet for like $130, then... (yes there's more) before any of this to get to be able to do the quarantine in your home you need to send a letter 2 weeks prior otherwise they'll have to be in government quarantine for 40 days... I wouldn't want that @ all...

It seems easy enough when you call the embassy and get the rules...
