Traveling from Panama

One of the things I loved most about living in Panama was the ability to easily travel to other Central and Latin American countries. Honestly, you can just catch a bus and be in Costa Rica the next morning.

I would go back and forth between the two countries constantly and got to see so much.

What other countries have you been able to visit while living in Panama.

From Panama I traveled to the Caribbean (two hour flight), Argentina (7 hour flight), and then from Argentina to Brazil, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Chile. I love it that all of these countries have the same language (except for Brazil) but are totally different.

I've never even been to Panama (will be there shortly in 2 weeks, however -- starting to get excited).

But one of the main selling points to me as a potential expat spot is both the relative proximity to my homeland (western Canada) and the ability to explore further in central & South America.

I also have good friends in Buenos Aires & Uruguay, and although a flight from Panama City there is 8-9 hrs, that's a whole lot less that what it is currently for me..

Hi!
How long does it take from Panama to Santiago de Chile?
And is it expensive (ida y vuelta)?
Many airlines?
Direct flights ?
Or cheaper via Argentina or other Countries?

Thanks
Mike "MultiVista" from Frankfurt, Germany

Here's the website for Copa Airlines -- Panama's national airline:

http://www.copaair.com/homepage.aspx?lenguage=en

You can dig up most of what you ask on what site.

Cheers

From Europe?

As a Canadian, I really can't say.

Here's a good site I found recently, but it likely will only be good for North Americans: http://www.bookingbuddy.com/

Just Google something like 'cheap airfares' and you'll likely be able to find something better than what works for us norteamericanos..

<sigh>
Use an aggregator site. My favorite is www.kayak.com.
Iberia has a direct flight between Panama and Madrid, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the cheapest.

Thanks for the link soltero!

Iberia is what I've always used to go from Europe to Panama and vice versa and I always found it to be the most direct and most affordable option.

On the link soltero provided you'll see that there are other choices like American Airlines, Mexicana and Continental Airlines.

...and if you register with Kayak (it's free), you can do advanced search options, like multiple days, destinations, etc.
