Hi Coco! Are you already here in Panama? Did you find an apartment?
Laura
Did you find an apartment yet? How did you find it?
If you are looking around for an apartment, it is probably best to go to a real estate agent around your area or the area you want to live in, they will get you the best places to live and probably the best prices aswell. However, i know of people that have bought houses from the Internet and the deal went very smoothly and they are living there happily now.
Are there any problems with corrupt real estate agents like there are with lawyers?
Hey tallman, from what I have read the Real Estate agents need to take their job seriously and be honest about dealing with customers. It takes them a long time to get the certification and it can be easily revoked if they do bad business. They will cut each other's throats in a heart beat but when it comes to doing business with clients they are required to be honest or else. I am sure there is always an exception to the rule but the real estate certification is very serious to them.

Wow! $200 a month is a great price, especially for 3 months.
there are some hotels that request more per day. too bad we can't see photos with that house. i've seen other good offers too![]()
Usually it will cost more to rent for less time. For example it will cost more per day to rent on a day-to-day basis than on a month-to-month basis.
I would like to see a floor plan or indoor photos rather than see outdoor photos.
yes I'm very interested to see the pictures..
can someone upload it?
thank you

U can find a lot of diferent kind of apartment.
I never saw something about $200...
There's a lot of room for interpretation in the word "decent." But, I'd figure $400-800, depending on age, parking, furninshings, location, etc. etc. etc.
Apartments here are pretty darn steep. I rent a master bedroom in a condo all the way up in El Dorado and that is $475/mo and includes all utilities. That is pretty cheap and it is only a bedroom.
In real estate listings, what do they mean when they talk about a 'white line' (linea blanca) ?
Question #2, someone will know the answer to this one..
When you rent a place in Panama, are leases common? 6-mo or 12-mo?
Or are places generally rented month to month?
Both common?
All depends?
If preference counts for anything, I'd rather do month-by-month, of course (less commitment). But really I just want to know how things really are.
Thx
Linea blanca = kitchen appliances (and sometimes washer & dryer as well, depending on who's talking).
Rental duration: Both are common. Month-to-month should be no problem, though you will likely have to pay a security deposit. Occasionally, there are horror stories about those -- i.e., a landlord claims you damaged/stole his property, and refuses to give the deposit back. That happens everywhere in the world, of course, it's just that it can be more difficult to come to a resolution in Panama, especially if you're no longer living here. Best recourse is to document and photograph everything, and don't sign anything you don't understand.
