    Cool considering relocating,,,

    hello forum members.
my wife and i, along with a cat and dog, are currently living in Belize. we have been here since leaving the Denver area in '98.
we are a bit discouraged with some things in Belize and are currently 'for sale'.
we hear lots of good things about panama and have had some neighbors leave Belize to go there.
so,, being a forum type person, i am turning to you good folks for some realistic info.
sure,, we have heard how we can live cheaper in almost every way, but we need some more focused questions answered.
we are done with beach,, need a more,, mountainous, or hilly area. any suggestions?
can we work? we are not ready to retire, (unless we get the asking price for our place), what are the requirements to work?
health care? i am sure the quality is good, is the price reasonable?
easy to bring the cat and dog with us?
obviously, we plan to visit before anything,, any advice for that?
i apoligise for not doing a search but i have been into the beer and got lazy.
thanks for any response you provide!

Where is Belize? I have never been, so I can't say if Panama is better, but I think Panama is a great place to live.

belize, (british honduras till '81) is south of mexico and east of guatamala with guatamala on the south as well.
alot of our fellow expats here in belize have or are planning on going south to panama. belize is now the most expensive country in central america, and i think the most corrupt. 99th on the scale.
you can learn some more from our website, Barnacle Bill's Beach Bungalows - Maya Beach, Placencia Peninsula, Belize
we are now activly for sale. we are still undecided as to if we want to relocate to another country, (we are 10 years older since the last relocation!), because we know it's alot of work.. but, our dollar doesn't go far here.
and the states is on the bottom of the option list!!

When moving to Central America, most people are looking for an inexpensive place to live, not an expensive one. Thanks for the information on Belize.

bernacle, just sell your place and come over to live here! I promise we will treat you nicely. .. and it's pretty cheap to live here too.

If you are looking for a more "hilly" area, I'd like to suggest Boquete, it has an altitude of about 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) above the sea level. Its climate is a little cooler than the lowlands of Panama... here are some pics:
