Police Report Needed to Pensionado Residency

I will receive a pension that will be more than enough to qualify me and Mrs. Doc for a pensionado residency visa. However I just read that a police reoprt is required as part of the visa approval process. Although I'm not one of America's Most Wanted, I have one minor transgression from my college days on my permanent record. Anybody know what types of things will keep me from getting a visa or where I can get accurate information on this issue?

    Thanks,
    Doc

Is it from your country of residence in the last 5 years? The law kind of implies 5 years but I am sure they will take a closer look. You can always file, get a 1 year permit and re-file again.

I know of somebody that has been refused because of a DUI, supposedly years ago? I wouldn't let that stop me from trying but don't be to surprised.

Your police report (they would not accept my original report)needs to be approved in the panama consulate and stamped.Be very careful of immigration lawyers here

To my knowledge, everything that comes from Panama is automatically considered OK. If it comes from abroad it has to make a stop at the Panamanian embassy/consulate. The exceptions are:

    Passport
Driver's license (you get translation from your local embassy/consulate)
