    How Quickly?

How long did it take everyone to learn spanish? Are you fluent in spanish now or are you still trying to learn the language?

Actually I don't speak any Spanish now, but I would like to learn if possible online. I think it is best to find some one who can speak both English and Spanish.

I'm not speaking from personal experience, but I've heard from several expats (on different languages) that it takes about 1 year to become "functional" once you are immersed in the culture.

But it really all depends.. Natural ability, effort applied in learning, whether one hangs out locals or with expats mostly, etc..

I agree, it does depend on the amount of time you spend trying to learn. There are schools here that teach Spanish (of course) and the company you keep will also be a factor.
