    Learning Spanish

The big day is coming closer now, only 4 weeks to go, and my Spanish is still pretty much non-existent
I would be interested in finding somebody who can teach me Spanish for about an hour a day, at a reasonable price. Pls contact me if you can help, or if you know somebody who can help

You can get Rosetta Stone online versions for about $225 that are very good, but it will take a few weeks to learn

Worse case, get a laptop with a translation program and buy a cell phone so you call someone bilingual. Without this, you may not understand why the traffic cop isn't writing you a ticket (but won't let you go either).

Maybe after you move you can find a place that has a bulletin board you can post on. I'm sure there are plenty of bilingual natives who could give you lessons for $5 to $10 an hour.

    Re: Learning Spanish

I was trying a friend's Rosetta Stone. I did do a semester of Spanish at College, so had a bit of the language. Recently purchased a course from synergyspanish.com which i am really enjoying, and it was about $80-MUCH cheaper than Rosetta Stone, and I am finding I am progressing much faster.

Your Spanish is non existent because you, as well as many others, lack the fortitude and discipline to sit yourself down and do the hard mental work that is required to learn a foreign language. We are talking several hours a day, every day for years. You don't need a warm body to teach it to you. You can teach it to yourself if you are willing to do so. All you need is a computer. I have several courses I could send you but they are all several gigabytes and I am unable to send a file that large. If you are creative, you can find these courses online and download them yourself for free.

Here is some more advice. Having a human teach you Spanish at $12/hour plus gas and travel time and accidents in Panama City is very inefficient and costly. With your computer and some self motivation (lacking in many people, I know), you can teach yourself much more economically. Using your bitTorrent client, download this torrent and treat yourself to 12.7 Gigabytes of Spanish learning material. Once you finish everything on this download, you will be speaking Spanish better than the King of Spain. If bit torrents offend you then I can't help you. P.S. I tried posting the torrent file but the forum says it is an invalid file so I guess it offends them too. Send me your email and I will send it to you. I am seeding it now.

    Re: Learning Spanish

I stayed in the expat community of Coronado where there is a local teacher called Yasmin who is very good and comes to your home for $3 per hour. Also I saw this ad in the local newsletter:
Spanish Classes at Paraiso Rest at $5.00, every Sunday starting at 11:00.
Could be a good place to start

    Re: Learning Spanish

There are different ways to learn Spanish. Every one will use what is better for him or her.Sometimes it is necessary a "Good" teacher, but pleaseĦ A language teacher who earns $3 per hour in panama....this person she´s not professional and doesn´t have knowledge about Spanish. Take care about what are you really learning. Spanish is no easy inclusive for panamanians.
