    Rosetta Stone

I've heard this software is great for learning languages, how good is it for learning Spanish?

I luckily know a good amount of Spanish already but I have several friends who want to learn and are struggling to do so. One of them mentioned this program to me, and wanted to know if it was worth the money or not. It does seem a bit expensive however, I've read several good reviews about it. I'm still a bit skeptical though. Anyone have any first hand experience with it?

I have personally reviewed quite a few systems for learning Spanish. One of the very best so far is the LearnLingo interactive DVD set. Available from eBay. Just search for it. here is a youtube article about it with a small sample. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXKytBx2x0c

They now have a version out for children too:

Rosetta Stone is a great program. But having been through a number of computer programs, for me, really the best way to polish up is to take a class. The computer programs take a lot of discipline.

Thanks for both of your inputs.

I'm going to check out that DVD set right now, and as for learning in a classroom setting I agree that's probably one of the best formal ways to learn a language. Although the problem with that is not so much the cost, but it's time consumption. The advantage of the computer software is that it's more of a learn at your own pace type of deal. Anyway, I'll be sure to pass this info to my friends.

My opinion: for me Rosetta Stone, and in that matter it is true for some other computer programs, didnt work very well. I think it is partly because my laziness
but I found that I am getting much better results with a real language teacher, even it cost more money. I recommend your friend think over how he really can learn best, and if he happen to be a type like me, it isnt worth to waste money on Rosetta or such.
