fleeted im curiuos, how do you feel when you visit country's that don't have a US style gun culture? do you feel vunerable because of the lack of guns?

I can't ever remember feeling vulnerable. Firearms are but one part of a larger security mindset. Personal defense training, awareness and common sense go a long way. Taking common sense measures to harden your home against perps. By the way guns are very easy to get in Panama. I know the whole time in jail thing if you get caught with an unregistered one. For someone who is looking to aquire one try the pizza shop in Bugaba. There are two pizza shops next door to each other, go to the one that attaches to the convience store. There are some small sitting tables outside. Any night (when there is no rain) you should be able to aquire what you need. Be sure and check the function of the slide and magazine springs if getting a non revolver pistol. I took a look at a small 380 acp (brazilian) and a 22 revolver offered there. They had a partial box of ammo for each (all those guns laying around Panama LOL). That area of Panama has allot of police roadblocks and your vehicle will be subject to search. You don't want to be found with it. Once you have it back at your residence you should be ok so long as you keep it there . Both of these weapons are not weapons of choice for home defence as they have little or no stopping power. If you were able to secure Glaser safety slugs for the 380 that would improve its performance greatly. There are plenty of people waiting years for the slow Panama system to issue their carry permits but there are always other options. Paying some extra money to the local Magistrate should expedite the process once the moratorium is lifted. No cynical I can't ever remember feeling vulnerable in any country I have visited especially Panama. The Majority of the people are good and honing your ability to recognize the thugs eliminates 99% of the problem. Nononsensematt is correct stay out of the known bad areas and allot of your worries take care of themselves.

The advantages of frangible rounds in combat is out-weighed by their disadvantages. The federal sky marshalls quit using them after simulated tests. They now use jhp Sig .357. A .380 is a poor choice for self defense, under any circumstances (unless thats all you have). A regular 'ole shotgun is the best for home defense and alot easier to explain to the local gendarmes.

Derek I don't have any problem with gays as I stated previously I think it's great more Chicas for me lol. I also mentioned that the 380 and 22 are both bad choices for stopping and attacker. The glaser slugs do provide more shock energy for the smaller caliber 380. still not the best choice. If you look at the petty theft thread you will see I also recommend a shotgun for home defense. I think we agree on all points, so why the hostility?
Derek if I were forced to use a small caliber I would put seberal rounds in the attackers head, Hence the practice at head sized moving targets. My personal choice in a hand gun is the 45 model 1911.

Agreed, however the head is a small target and not a reliable place to aim for the first hit, since in the heat of attack it can flick around quite unpredictably. 'two to the body and one to the head' is the way I was instructed at both local and federal training centers (Quantico). The trouble with frangible rounds is that any obstacle, no matter how slight can cause a dispersal of the BB's outside of the body instead of inside. This is also a problem for regular ammo. I fired at a guy once and thought I hit him dead-center and he just ran away. I found a small twig from a tree that had deflected the round. The twig was too small to see from the 20 meter distance that I fired from. With frangibles you get alot more uncertainty, with the uncontrollable environment that shooting occur in.

Nice choice Naked I like it!! the versatility is great. A good trick with the shotgun feature of this gun or any shotgun is to score the round just behind the wad. This allows all the shot to stay together and function as a slug. This is useful if say for instance you have high brass birdshot and want to get the most knockdown out of it. I used this trick to kill a Javelina when I was dove hunting in south Texas.
well they make a round for the judge that has 4 -36 cal balls in it , all home or personal defence is close range and at 30 ft it is a 5 inch group , if i remember right . it only comes in 5 and 7 shot , i think the 7 shot is to big to conceal , but even with the 5 shot that gives the perp 20 little holes to contend with , or mix and match a few 45 cal long cart in it , then fleeted you get both , your 45 and a shotgun that fits under the pillow . just makes you want someone to break in LOL
You are correct it is a very effective and versatile choice. Another plus is they can't run a ballistics on a shotgun . As far as wanting the perps to come I'll pass on that.

From what I saw of your property, home and location during my visit I would say you are positioned well. Thinking about what might be expensive or tough to get during hard times and laying up some extra now would be prudent. Farmers and folks who live in rural areas enjoy more insulation from the shocks that hit the urban cities. Also with your skill sets in construction and welding along with your education makes you valuable to your community during hard times. Remember the gutter installers you had to teach how to do their job lol ?

Oh...No it's for every one! but what upsets is that owners get no deeds, condo hotels are been rented and no income. Sooo????

I have been in the hotel and it is open to everyone....What concerns me is the way they are managing things with owners since they open in Dec. They have not given the deeds and condos are been rented and owners are not receiving incomes. It is a confusing situation and very unfair.
Not true!!!! prices are reasonable and it is all included...Not pricey..
