I just wanted to share my thoughts about the Difference between Costa Rica and Panama. Costa Rica has definetly got more interesting facilities for tourism but that has affected the prices in the country and things cost more than in Panama. In Panama there are a few areas where you can take full advantage of the lack of huge tourism attractions and at the same time benefit from an outstanding standard of living such as in Boquete.

Allow me to introduce myself:
I was born in Panama City and raised in Colon. I currently reside in San Francisco (CA) and wear my homeland nostalgia on my sleve. I plan to return for vacation in 2010. Should I be furtunate enough to live that long, upon retirement I will come full circle by returning to Panama for permanent residence.
Cheers.

Hello all
I am from the UK and recently relocated to Panama for work. Been here a month or so. Wife and children coming out soon - I hope they like it!
I would be glad to receive any 'tips' on life here.

We have almost decided to buy a small house in Costa Rica, but recently found out, that foreigner rights for ownership of properties in Costa Rica are not guaranteed/ protected by Costa Rican law.
How is this matter solved in Panama?
Thank you, Michael

Hello, everybody!
We are from Canada and considering buying a small house in Costa Rica.
Recently found out that in case of our absence from the country longer than 3 months we might loose our rights for the property. Any local squatter might take possession of the property when we are out, no legal protection from either police or government.
How is this matter in Panama?
Thank you

Hello from another Cdn / Will be in Panama last 2 wks of June
Greetings everybody,
I was happy to find this forum today. I really had no luck finding anything like this until I Google'd "Panama discussion forum".
The past few years I've been exploring countries to eventually expat to. I read a lot on each country and then I visit in person. In recent times, I've been to Thailand, Buenos Aires, all over Uruguay. Some good things in each place, but just not quite "the one" for me.
I'll be in Panama the latter two weeks of June. I'll probably spend most of my time in Panama City, but I'll probably check out David & Boquette also.
Looking forward to reading more in the forum..

Hello one and all! I'm new here, first day at this site. I'm going to Panama in the near future to check it out in terms of a possible retirement home. I'm in my mid fifties, my wife is ten years younger and we are Canadian ( she's originally from the Phillipines ). Any info you guys can share with a newbie concerning moving to Panama I would greatly appreciate. Thanks and have yourself a great day.

don't limit yourselves to the "popular" locations in Panama!
Hi All!
If you're looking at Panama as a possible retirement location, please don't limit yourselves to the locations you've heard and read about. Panama has so many wonderful places - depending upon what you're looking for, you can retire in or close to a beautiful beach. Then ask yourself if you want a surfing beach, a fishing beach, a beach with lots of people and amenities, or something more private and quiet.
You can find rugged terrain, tropical trees, beautiful hillsides with pine trees - just about anything you like!
If you have time, check out as many places as you can. I've been all over the country and each time I thought I found my "favorite" location, I found a better one on my next trip. I eventually made Panama my home. Before you do so, please get advice - it will save you thousands of dollars on land purchases, autos, utilities, etc. etc. Even buying the "wrong" or "right" phone can either cost you or save you a ton of money! Good luck.

Hello everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 28 year old Panamanian woman, living in the North Carolina, US. I have been living here for the past 4 years, Its ok so far but I miss Panama so much.
I like to check out this forum to read about how foreigners think & feel about Panama, I kinda want to go back to Panama to live, but I am a little scared of not finding a decent job with a decent pay, like here in the US.
I would be nice to make some friends here, dont hesitate writing me.

hello everyone!
So glad I found this forum and hopefully I can actually meet up with some of the folks in here once I am back in the city. My family is from Panama and I have been back and forth all my life. My dad is a US citizen and was serving in Panama where he met and married my mom. I feel at home in both countries, but life in Panama is so much more exciting.
I just came back home after almost two year (came back for holidays) and I am hoping to go back very soon on an even more permanent basis.
See you around.

Hello Patty,
My name is Tim and I am also new to the forum.I have heard a lot of very good
things about Panama and will be traveling there soon.
The beach, the mountains, the prices etc...
I currently live in Denver and love Colorado however, the long cold winters
