Carnaval in Panama City will be on Transistmica again this year. Setting up, activities will start the week before. There are several parades but I have not heard the times for them yet. It's a giant party and I am lucky to live within walking distance. Easy to get there and easy to "escape" too.
Thanks, the official website is still not updated...
Transistmitica i presume is the same as Via Simon Bolivar....
i have some plans to visit Panama during Carnaval.
Carnival in Panama City is a great time. I have now been there on Saturday and Sunday night. Everybody having a good time, ALLOT of police and that is ok. It is my understanding that a gun went off late Saturday night so the police were really tough on Sunday. The entire area is secured with a fence and everybody gets searched. The music is great, rum and beer are cheap (of course). I would suggest that you wear some sort of eye protection, clear glasses, because people are throwing confetti, spraying soapy water, and silly string from a can directly into each others faces for some strange reason? So I started doing the same thing to everybody else, when in Rome..... This is a real good time but always be aware of your surroundings and do not walk around this alone.
