There is enough traffic on the site now to start an alternative site if freedom of speech is not enforced.
My approach to Moderating was to remove spam and organize threads. I don't think neither me nor MrWooHoo are suitable since he would take it to the other extreme and moderate threads he was part of. If you are part of the discussion you have to set your Moderator possibilities aside, take the heat or walk away.
I would think spam flagging instead of moderating would be a suitable system. If the owner identifies abuse by someone, they would need to move in and adjust. It is not clear under what jurisdiction actions would be taken so International Waters is as good as any.

Of course you weren't serious but I'd prefer moderators that stay out of the fray and let people express themselves. Attacking others only gives them legitimacy. Besides, Ed is just pulling your chain. Don't fall for it and resort to name calling and personal attacks. Review the definition of moderator.
i heard a rumor that deep pockets were going to get him deported for running a business on a tourist visa , but I cant see the goverment working this fast .
Parker is a new moderator. He has been appointed by me to review every new post on the forum until we have a new moderator team in place.
Many formerly banned members have been given a second chance. That includes fleeted, Contrail, etc. who have all been unbanned. And MRWOOHOO is very welcome to return as a regular member.

Can you tell us a little about Parker? It looks like he only joined ten days ago.
Perhaps you could look at the number of "thanks" people have received as one of your criteria on selecting moderators.
Obviously it's an existing member with several posts that wants to hide his/hers identity. Parker has never even made a post.
Down the entire day of Aug 10th more or less. Whatever you are doing is clearly not working.
It does make the website match Panama better though since noone gives a fk here if something works consistently or not.

Obviously the host this site is on has poor administrative practices (keeping up with upgrades, security patches) and the server was taken over.
Safe to assume all email addresses and possibly accounts have been compromised.
That and the fact that the site has been down more than up lately suggests a new web host company should be found.
Not every forum owner is a tech guy but if one is serious about a forum he should at least seek out someone who is.
Fixing the Mark all Read button is as simple as editing 2 PHP files and even that is not fixed forever.
I understand this is a free forum but if $ is an issue I am sure a few banner and google ads would cover the expenses.
