By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - According to the Emergency Operations Center of the Panamanian National Civil Defense System (SINAPROC), severe weather continues to pound the Provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, the areas of the indigenous Comarcas, as well as Veraguas and the province of Colón. So far 38 houses have been destroyed and another 162 houses have been damaged. A total of 1,840 people have been affected by the flooding and 273 people are homeless. SINAPROC Chief Luís Francisco Sucre said in the province of Chiriquí in the districts of Boquete and Bugaba, 37 houses were destroyed, 110 houses were damaged, 573 people were affected, and 255 people were left homeless. A total of three significant mudslides have been reported so far. One was in the District of Bugaba near Cerro Punta and another was in the community of Guadalupe Arriba. At the moment the Caldera River remains above flood level and the SINAPROC is providing shelter to 3,910 people. Weather forecasters predict heavy rains will continue in the areas of Bocas Del Toro, Changuinola, Chiriquí and the province of Colón for the next two to three days.
