7 Business Lessons Panama Needs to Learn

We live in the era of globalization. This means that efficient business models and practices are not merely national. They are competing globally. Panama is already one of Latin America’s most international countries. A slue of multi-national companies including Dell, Royal Caribbean, and more have business operations on the Isthmus due to Panama’s strategical location, and the pro business-pro foreigner mentality. Panama is the Dubai of Latin America.

Yet, even with it’s international business credentials, there still exists room for improvement. In August on my annual return visit to the US, I was able to compare and contrast business practices of both countries. In the US, both multi-national and local companies, are among the most efficient in the world. Panama can learn a few lessons, and here are a couple that came to mind:

    Devil's advocate a bit then.

    2. Opportunity for me to learn Spanish.

    4. The less returned garbage, the less they will try to sell me for round two or three. Always inspect before you leave.
    5. This is good stuff, since most people just lose their discounts.
    6. I can't think of a single bill that I cannot pay online in Panama.
    7. Afraid of lawsuits.

For an efficient business image correct spelling is important. If Panama is the Dubai of Latin America, the property market is going to seriously tank and the car park at Tocumen will be full of leased cars with the keys in the ignition.
