    anonymous banking

    Hi everyone.

I would like to set up an anonymous offshore bank account. I'm looking at Panama as a possible place to move to in a few years, so it's a good starting point to look for an account.

Firstly, is it possible to start up an account with a Panama bank as a foreigner?

Is it possible to do this anonymously? I would rather not incorporate it if possible, I only need an account, not another business.

If I have the account set up, is there any reason I cannot tie tht account to my paypal account to deposit funds?

I'd rather not use a solicitor of law, I don't need taxation advice or corporate help, only an anonymous account.

I appreciate any input, thanks guys.

Don't waste your time. It doesn't exist.

Your only hope is of "semi-anonymous protection" is an offshore business. And even that is only so-so.

So there is no equivalent of the Swiss numbered account?

I'm not looking to fool the tax man and the NSA - semi-anon is ok providing it's not my name plastered for all to see on a google search. What exactly do you mean by 'semi-anonymous'?

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

The only way to do it is via a corporation or trust; those can be "blind," and no one can discover the owners' name unless the courts can provide evidence of criminal activity. The corporation costs about $1000 to set up, and about $300/year to maintain.

The Paypal question is up to Paypal -- but as far as I know, they will not set up accounts with banks in Panama, and they do not allow accounts to link across countries' borders. (That may change; you can have Paypal in Costa Rica and Colombia, for example. But as I said, it's up to Paypal, not the banks in Panama.)

    Thank you, it's very helpful.

Is it possible to open a blind corporation as a non-resident? Here in the UK my businesses have a director and a secretary - 2 people as a minimum. What are the requirements in Panama?

    Thanks guys.
