Hello,
2 years ago I moved to the Canary Islands. I like living here very much but would like to explore some really tropical countries in Latin America or Carribean or.... So, I am looking for a quite safe, cheap and developed country with good Internet connection where to live for 1-2 years.
Panamá looks very good for me and all information sources say it's a cheap country. I just checked some real estate websites and looks that Panamá isn't cheap at all. Yes, there are cheap properties for buying, but rental prices are extremaly high. After checking a few websites I didn't find any apartments for rent under 1200-1500 USD/month. I don't know the prices in USA, but in Europe such a price is normal for large cities like Barcelona or Madrid. 1500 USD/month for an apartment in Latin America looks almost like a hotel price.
In Gran Canaria where I live now I pay 500 EUR/month (water and electricity included in the price) for an 50 m2 apartment with sea views and 100m from the beach.
Are really rental prices in Panamá so high or I just visited wrong websites?
Thanks.

I am sorry, I wanted to publish this thread under "Living in Panama". Can anyone move it?
