Most big businesses start doing business internationally once they get big enough. A very big business isn't going to be contained in one country. Look at McDonald's for example. It's got restaurants in most of the world.

Major Companies

The major companies involved with import/export would be shipping and there is a "banana" boat load of them. But seriously, if you do a google search using "Colon Free Trade Panama", you will find all of the shipping companies you could possibly hope for and there is also a publication if you ask around enough. There is also allot of international companies (mostly Chinese) that are looking to buy and sell items. Real estate is everybody that is getting sick and tired of their own country screwing them. I have heard some stories of connected Americans getting early into the game. One snippet I heard was a VERY FAMOUS basketball player with the initials M.J. has some $$$$$ invested in Red Frog beach in Bocas.

China has ALLOT of US Currency to invest and they are being very smart about purchasing influence in Africa and Latin America. Keep in mind since the US dollar is decreasing in value it makes no sense to hang onto it when goodwill and influence can be purchased. China actually gave Costa Rica a chunk of US change just so Costa Rica will publicly state that Taiwan is not a seperate entity from China in front of the UN. Keep in mind the US has sworn to protect Taiwan from invasion... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh no, that's scary. It would be dangerous if the U.S. and China got into a violent conflict, and it would be bad for the global economy.

That would be an ugly event but there is also economic/trade warfare to think about.
