What's the population in Bocas del Torro?

What's the population in Bocas del Torro? Do you think it is crowded or do you think it could use more people?

If your talking about Bocas Town I would estimate a few thousand at most . The whole area of the islands may have 5000 in them total . Hard to say .
Yes there is plenty of room for more people in Bocas Del Toro but you should have your living arrangment figured out before getting there . All the hotels fill out on holidays .
WE are planning to rent our little cabin on Bastimentos when we return to Panama that is located on the property . It is completely self contained with a bath and kitchenette . Price will be $125 per week or $400 month. It sleeps 2 only .One week minimum.

Good luck renting out your cabin!

That must be nice having an extra cabin. It also probably comes in handy if you have guests come visit.

Actually the main house is a little over 7000 sq. ft. so we would need a LOT of people to fill it up before needing the cabin unless they are honey mooners and make lots of noise . I built and stayed there while building the big house and had not used it since we finished . I guess it would make a great doll house for kids !

That's awesome that you built your own house. Did you have a lot of experience or did you learn as you did it?

I retired from a long Construction Career . Trying to build in Bocas without building knowledge is a BIG Mistake .The hard part of building in Bocas ,at that time ,was trying to acquire the lumber you needed . You need to place your order long before you need it . The cabin is built of all rare hardwoods . The men actually went into the jungle and would find a tree they wanted ,saw it down and rough cut the lumber sizes with a chain saw . Then it was hauled to another island by wooden Canoe or a Cayuco ,as the locals call them and ran through a wood planer to perfect condition and size . It is some of the best and rarest wood I have ever worked with .
The big house is a combination of Pressure treated wood and Panama hardwoods .All are bug proof . There is 360 Lineal Feet of exotic wood beams in the interior roof design alone . It was slow work and I trained about 20 men in constrution technigues .It took 3 years . They are now all employeed in the building trade there .
