It might be better to hold a ETF rather than the actual company (
ETF Securities )but apart from that gold is a safe bet with all these emerging markets getting richer they will buy more gold.
My advise before you buy into a mine is do a quick google search on ( Gold mine investment) or ( Gold mine investment pitfalls) and everage pay earnings ratios and company debt
